Seabased
Seabased is a leader in the wave energy industry – designing, building, installing, and maintaining wave parks that use the power of ocean waves to provide cost-competitive electricity directly to the grid. Seabased’s modular, utility-scale technology generates stable and predictable power that enables grid operators to increase the amount of renewables they can incorporate into the energy mix, either through stand-alone wave parks or in combination with other renewables such as offshore wind.
EMEC worked with Seabased to design and implement a testing programme supporting Seabased’s certification goal for its latest generation wave-to-grid wave energy park technology. The collaboration was part-funded by the Interreg North Sea Region Ocean Energy Scale-up Alliance (OESA) project, an accelerator programme for the deployment of large-scale marine energy pilots.
EMEC reviewed Seabased’s technology and advised on options to meet its certification objectives. The resulting certification strategy aligned the future test programme with certification objectives ensuring that the evidence from past and future testing is compiled in the most effective manner.
