Ron joined EMEC’s Board in 2014 and became Chair in December 2022. Ron is a civil engineer and is also Chair of the Water Research Centre, based near Swindon, Wiltshire.

Ron has had a distinguished career within the energy industry having held a number of senior posts within the Scottish Power and National Grid groups and is a member of the Gas Network Innovation Competition Expert Panel.

He has strong connections to the Caithness area.

A chartered accountant and civil engineering graduate, Caroline has worked for nearly 40 years as an accountant in professional practice, specialising early on in her career in due diligence and corporate finance. After many years of acting as reporting accountant and corporate finance adviser for a wide range of complex businesses, she headed up Deloitte’s UK and Swiss risk and quality function for its advisory corporate finance businesses, prior to retiring in 2018. Since then, Caroline has taken on trustee and treasurer roles for five local Orkney charities. Caroline has a strong interest in the marine sector, stemming from studying hydraulics in her civil engineering degree and from a life long love of sailing.

A Chartered Electrical Engineer and Chartered Director, Sally-Ann has extensive experience in the utility, asset and offshore industry, both as a designer, project manager, leader and consultant. She is currently the Chief Operating Officer of Guernsey Electricity Ltd, and a Board member of the Channel Islands Electricity Grid, and International Public Partnerships Ltd, a FTSE 250 asset management fund. Sally-Ann was born and raised in Guernsey, Channel Islands, and worked internationally gaining an appreciation of the opportunities and challenges that island communities face in the energy transition.

Iain Littlejohn chairs the People Committee, bringing over 30 years of experience in strategic HR and organisation transformation to the role. Over the last ten years, Iain has undertaken non executive director roles for a range of social purpose organisations. He currently sits on the Boards of three other organisations in the areas of Education, Skills and Social Housing.

For his ‘day job’, Iain works as an independent management consultant, focusing on operating model development, organisational restructuring and business transformation, predominantly working with large, multinational organisations. This allows Iain to bring a wide range of perspectives from other sectors to inform EMEC’s thinking.

Away from work, Iain is married with three grown up children. Whilst he has Scottish roots, he now lives in Oxfordshire where he is active in his local community and enjoys dabbling in local improvement projects. He also likes to read, travel, walk and is currently persevering with learning how to hit a golf ball in a vaguely straight line.
