Project: PERISCOPE
Timescale: 2017-2021
Funder: co-financed by the Interreg North Sea programme.
Project website: www.periscope-network.eu
Partners: Periscope partners
Project overview:
PERISCOPE aimed to establish an innovation ecosystem in the North Sea Region (NSR) to grow transnational innovation partnerships for sustainable business development in emerging blue markets.
Supporting Interreg North Sea’s objective of “thinking growth”, the project aimed to strengthen cross-sector blue growth innovation capacity by bringing together businesses, entrepreneurs, clusters/networks, researchers, universities, business angels, incubators, investors and funds, customers/users, regional and local authorities and development/business support agencies for knowledge sharing, acceleration and launch of new innovation projects for sustainable business development.
EMEC’s role:
EMEC represented Scotland and the wider UK in the project. EMEC supported the review and ranking of ideas generated throughout the project.
EMEC hosted a trend jam on 26 June 2018 in Orkney. The event consisted of an intensive idea generation session. Each person brought a challenge from their area of expertise, and then sifted through potential solutions. The delegates then chose the best idea(s) for their challenge and worked on a brief follow-up plan including identifying the benefits and the next steps. These were then input into the Periscope project ecosystem to be validated by industry around the North Sea Region and ranked.
