Office facilities

EMEC has a suite of offices and data acquisition facilities. Our main office is in Stromness on the southwest side of Orkney, where we have well-equipped meeting rooms available for use.

EMEC’s main offices are based in the Orkney Renewable and Innovation Campus, in Stromness.

We also have offices and meeting facilties at Warness Park, near Hatston Pier in Kirkwall.

Improvements to the local infrastructure has resulted in implementation of higher speed, greater bandwidth fibre connections across our main sites.

As part of their berth agreement, EMEC provides wave and tidal energy developer clients office accommodation either in Stromness or Kirkwall. Dedicated fibre optics provide a direct secure link between the device under test and the communications hub for both the wave and tidal sites. This allows the developer to remotely monitor and control their device. Secure access to EMEC’s SCADA system allows developers to evaluate the performance of their devices under test in the open sea.
