Office facilities

EMEC is based in Stromness, the second largest town in Orkney. Our main offices are in The Charles Clouston Building at the Orkney Research and Innovation Campus (ORIC) in the centre of the town with wonderful views overlooking Stromness Harbour out to Scapa Flow.

We have additional offices at Warness Park near Hatston Pier in Kirkwall.

Meeting rooms

Both locations have well-equipped, flexible meeting rooms ideal for in-person and online meetings, workshops or confidential discussions.

Data acquisition

Our offices support sophisticated data acquisition systems that underpin our offshore testing and monitoring capabilities. EMEC’s Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system collects real-time data from environmental sensors and ocean energy technologies demonstrating offshore. Dedicated fibre optics provide a direct secure link between the device under test and technology developers get secure access to these feeds. This allows developers to remotely monitor and control their devices under test.
