Senior Electrical Engineer

Salary: £54,739 – £60,443 - a market supplement may be available for this post depending on candidate experience and will be negotiated separately to the salary | Type: Permanent post
Location: Orkney, but will negotiate for the right candidate. Relocation costs of up to £8,000 available | Hours: Full and part-time applications welcomed

We are looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to manage operations of EMEC’s electrical systems, ensuring they meet client requirements and that they are operated to relevant standards.

You will provide a testing service for wave and tidal generating devices owned by EMEC clients, participating independently in technology design reviews and managing clients’ connections to the EMEC electrical system. This will include power performance assessment of said technologies and ensuring the availability of EMEC’s facilities and equipment associated with these tests, including HV electrical connections and a range of measurement systems.

You will work with clients to solve problems of an electrical, technical or data-related nature, and provide performance related data and reports to clients to assist with design and operation of these devices, ensuring data and results are collated, processed and archived in a consistent and accessible manner.

Educated to degree level in electrical or electronic engineering, you will have five years post-graduate experience, with HV and LV electrical systems and a working knowledge of instrumentation and measurement systems.

You will possess strong numeracy and communication skills and be computer and IT literate. A recognised further electrical industry qualification or accreditation would be advantageous, as would specific knowledge of instrumentation and measuring systems and QA systems such as the ISO 9000 series.

You will participate in the on-call Duty Manager roster as required (approx. one week per four).
