Aim

The aim of the ENCORE (Energizing Coastal Regions with Offshore Renewable Energy) project is to advance five offshore renewable energy technologies (including wave energy converters, tidal and river current turbines and offshore floating solar) in a structured and collaborative process and to develop open-source tools and services to facilitate the accelerated commercialisation of offshore energy solutions for islands, harbours, estuaries and offshore structures with a focus on 2SEAS region and export.

EMEC’s role

EMEC is leading the performance assessment work package, and will be supporting the technology developer partners to prepare testing programmes and ready them for performance assessments. EMEC is also supporting the ‘route to market’ work package, preparing developers for investment, and supporting development of technical specifications and certification processes.

Results

It is expected that the ENCORE project will result in bankable solutions, jobs, export opportunities, increased competitiveness and as such contribute to cleaner climate.

Financial support

ENCORE receives funding from the Interreg 2 Seas programme 2014-2020, co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund under subsidy contract No 2S08-004. The provinces of South and North Holland and Zeeland are also offering financial support.
