International Open-water Test Centres Workshop:
To build on EMEC’s Global Ocean Energy symposium held in 2013, we are hosting a workshop for international open-water test centres on 7th November 2014. The workshop aims to establish a global network of open-sea marine energy test centres, providing a forum to discuss key R&D topics and identify actions to forge relationships and knowledge transfer between test sites.
In order to ensure focused discussion, this event is by invitation only.
For further information, visit: ICOE Workshop: International open-water test centres
ICOE is the global venue for exchange of information and building relationships, in order to grow a world-wide marine renewable energy industry. ICOE was first established in 2006 and is now held every two years. It has grown to almost 1000 participants from almost 40 countries, had a significant tradeshow in 2012, and is now recognized as the world’s pre-eminent industry-development event.
The goal of the conference and exhibition is to advance industry development by sharing recent experiences from development, demonstration and technology transfer efforts. It aims to accelerate development by stimulating collaboration between companies, researchers and development centres. It also targets engagement of operators with experience in related marine and power industry sectors.
Hosted by Marine Renewables Canada in partnership with the Government of Canada, Government of Nova Scotia, and Offshore Energy Research Association, the 2014 ICOE will be a North American first.

Dave Wakefield, EMEC’s ETV Manager, is attending Sustainability Live 2015 at the NEC, Birmingham, on 21st-23rd April.
As a verification body for Environmental Technology Verification (ETV), EMEC is exhibiting at the event to raise awareness of the scheme alongside other UK verification bodies. You find us on Stand H11: Environmental Technology Verification Scheme (located in the NEMEX Energy Management Exhibition hall).
If you’d like to set up a meeting with Dave, or would like to hear more on EMEC-ETV, please contact ETV@emec.org.uk or call 01856 852060.
What is ETV?
Environmental Technology Verification (ETV) is a tool to help innovative environmental technologies reach the market. The Statement of Verification delivered at the end of the ETV process can be used as evidence that the claims made about the innovation are both credible and scientifically sound. With proof of performance credibly assured, innovations can expect easier market access and/or a larger market share, and the technological risk is reduced for technology purchasers.

EMEC-ETV
Accredited to ISO 17020, EMEC became a Verification Body for Environmental Technology Verification (EMEC-ETV) in 2014. The ETV scheme helps innovative technologies reach the market by verifying the specific performance parameters of a given technology, and can help small and medium-sized businesses attract investment, increase market share and differentiate from competitors. EMEC can verify the performance of technologies which present an environmental benefit in the wave, tidal and wind energy sectors, as well as technologies that focus on water treatment & monitoring, and materials, waste & resources.
