Finance & People Director
Salary: £82,245 – £89,396 | Type: Permanent post
Location: Orkney (hybrid working supported) | Hours: Full or part time applications welcomed.
We are seeking a Finance & People Director to provide strategic leadership across finance, people and organisational development.
As a member of EMEC’s Executive Team and a statutory director of the EMEC Board, you will play a central role in shaping the organisation’s long-term sustainability, culture and performance, working closely with the Managing Director and Board to strengthen governance, financial resilience and strategic decision-making.
You will lead EMEC’s financial function, with overall responsibility for planning, budgeting, forecasting and reporting, ensuring clear financial insight, strong governance and effective risk management.
Supporting EMEC’s growth, you will provide financial insight for major investment decisions, site expansion and long‑term sustainability, embedding financial and commercial thinking across the organisation, and helping shape new revenue opportunities, partnerships and business models.
Alongside this, you will lead EMEC’s People Strategy, working with the HR Manager to oversee recruitment, performance, staff development and organisational effectiveness, fostering a positive, engaged and high-performing culture.
You will hold a recognised accounting qualification (CA, ACCA, CIMA) or have demonstrable senior‑level financial leadership experience (10+ years in finance), with a strong track record of working with Boards or Board-level committees. Knowledge of HR frameworks and effective people management practices is beneficial to ensure that EMEC is an exceptional place to work.
