Electrical Technician / Engineer 

Salary: £38,661 – £48,878  | Type: Permanent post
Location: Orkney | Hours: Full-time (part time applications welcomed).

Apply your electrical skills in a pioneering renewable energy environment, working across a range of infrastructure and projects as part of a collaborative, purpose-led team.

We are seeking an Electrical Technician or Electrical Engineer (dependent on experience) to support the operation and development of EMEC’s test and demonstration facilities and delivery of pioneering innovation projects.

At Technician level, you will:

  • Support installation, commissioning, maintenance and fault-finding of electrical systems
  • Help maintain EMEC’s assets and infrastructure safely and effectively
  • Support client electrical connections and operational activities
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to planned maintenance programmes

At Electrical Engineer level, you would also:

  • Lead defined electrical work packages and support client projects
  • Contribute to electrical design and construction activities
  • Analyse test data and develop testing methodologies
  • Support EMEC’s data acquisition and SCADA systems
  • Prepare technical reports for clients and stakeholders

This role involves working at a variety of locations across Orkney and will occasionally require travel elsewhere, as well as flexible working outside normal hours when operational requirements demand. The successful candidate should be comfortable working outdoors and at sea.
