EMEC is the world’s leading demonstration facility for testing wave and tidal energy technologies in the sea. Based in Orkney, the centre is also working on R&D projects looking at green hydrogen, floating wind and the decarbonisation of maritime and aviation sectors.

Business Development Coordinator

Salary: £35,346 -  £38,420 (plus contributory pension) | Type: Permanent post
Location: Orkney | Hours: Full and part-time applications welcomed.

We are looking for a Business Development Coordinator to identify, develop and secure opportunities for EMEC to grow its portfolio of projects.

You will coordinate the pipeline of demonstration projects coming to EMEC from feasibility discussions through to contracting. You will also produce time, cost and scope materials for proposals and contracts related to projects at EMEC and investigate funding sources liaising with relevant clients on emerging opportunities. In addition, you will support EMEC’s service development in topics that can be offered alongside technology demonstration, and facilitate the handover of projects to EMEC’s project delivery teams, whilst maintaining awareness of future commercial requirements related to these contracts.

Part of the role will include the development and maintenance of a strong network in relevant business sectors, forming collaborations between EMEC and key supply chain partners. With the Business Development Coordinator role, there will be opportunities to represent EMEC at conferences and workshops, events and other activities including speaking positions.

Educated to degree level or equivalent working experience in a science, business or technical field, you will have strong communication skills and the ability to coordinate,  multi-task and prioritise your workload effectively, and be able to communicate complex project ideas in a clear and concise manner to relevant audiences.

Experience in the renewable energy or environmental sector would be advantageous, but is not essential. The role will involve UK and overseas travel for business activities.
