About Marine Energy Wales

From the official Marine Energy Wales website:

“Marine Energy Wales brings together technology developers, the supply chain, academia and the public sector to establish Wales as a global leader in sustainable marine energy generation, making a significant contribution to a low carbon economy.

The benefits of this industry are being felt throughout the country with the creation of green sustainable jobs, growth and skills providing significant development opportunities for Wales.

With £152.4 million invested into the marine renewable energy sector in Wales to date, two large scale wave and tidal stream demonstration zones, seabed agreements in place for three separate wave and tidal stream projects, a number of proposals for significant floating offshore wind projects and a government commitment to the development of first of its kind tidal lagoon, Wales is well positioned to play a global leading role in marine energy.”

Engineering Challenges in the Hydrogen Economy

EMEC will be in attendance at this years Engineering Challenges in the Hydrogen Economy conference taking place from 30 – 31 March 2022. This conference is organised by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and will be held on-site in London.

Speaking

Neil Kermode (Credit Colin Keldie) 150Neil Kermode, EMEC’s Managing Director, will be in attendance at this years conference. Neil has accepted a speaking slot, and will be delivering a presentation and getting involved in a panel discussion. Visit the official website HERE for more information and to book tickets.

About the Event

From the official website:

“Following the commitment from Government to legislate for net-zero emissions by 2050, hydrogen is stated to play a role an energy vector in the reduction of emissions from power, transport, and industrial sectors.

In March 2021, we hosted the Future Applications of Hydrogen for a Low Carbon Economy seminar that highlighted the importance of building a network of engineers in the field to discuss common engineering challenges, applications and strategies. As more projects move from concept to demonstration and commercial scale, there is a need to discuss common challenges, share lessons learned and identify the role of the mechanical engineer.

This conference is an opportunity for engineers to identify challenges across the hydrogen value chain including production, distribution, storage, and utilisation. Hydrogen can be a useful part of the energy system, but engineers must understand the inherent challenges before it can be used effectively, and at scale, in a net-zero future energy economy.”
