Blog: EMEC launch new information leaflet

Established in Orkney in 2003, this year marks EMEC’s 10th anniversary. With test sites based throughout Orkney, EMEC is still the world’s only accredited, full-scale open-sea test facility for wave and tidal energy converters, and has supported the deployment of more grid connected devices in Orkney than at any other single site in the world. Throughout the last decade some of the most innovative marine energy technologies on the planet have been tested at EMEC’s test sites, and have overcome some tremendous challenges rarely faced by other industries.

However, we are still often asked: “What is EMEC?”, “What does EMEC do?”

To answer these questions, we have developed a new information leaflet aimed at the general public to provide an overview of the Centre’s work, and an insight into the ground-breaking and exciting new industry that is being developed right here in Orkney. The leaflet is being distributed in The Orcadian today, and is available to download here:
