Visit by Malcolm Wicks, Energy Minister

We were very pleased to receive a visit from the Rt Hon Malcolm Wicks, Energy Minister on Thursday 13 September. He was accompanied by Neil Kermode our Managing Director on a charter flight over the Tidal Test Site at Fall of Warness, Eday, and then over Billia Croo, Flotta and Scapa Flow. They returned to the EMEC Offices for lunch and then made a visit to the Wave Test Site at Billia Croo. OREF and ICIT made a presentation of their work in the renewable field and encouraged the Energy Minister to consider the recent OFGEM proposals to increase the cost of transmitting electricity from remote areas.
