Royal visit

EMEC were delighted to host a visit of His Royal Highness, Prince Charles the Duke of Rothesay, on Monday 1 June 2009. He was accompanied by the Lord Lieutenant of Orkney, Dr Tony Trickett, welcomed to EMEC’s offices by our Operations Director, Mr Stuart Baird and Chairman Mr Bill Edgar.

Following a presentation of EMEC’s history and activities, Prince Charles was introduced to staff and given an insight into the tasks faced here at the world’s first wave and tidal test centre. Prince Charles was extremely interested in all aspects of our work and showed a good awareness of some of the issues the industry faces. His Royal Highness was also introduced to representatives from the developers currently working on site, Aquamarine Power Ltd, OpenHydro Ltd and Tidal Generation Ltd.
