Royal visit

EMEC were delighted to host a visit of their Royal Highnesses, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, yesterday, September 15th 2008. They were accompanied by the Lord Lieutenant of Orkney, Dr Tony Trickett, and were welcomed to EMEC’s offices by our Managing Director, Mr Neil Kermode.

Following a presentation of EMEC’s current activities, their Royal Highnesses were introduced to staff and given an insight into the tasks faced here at the world’s first wave and tidal test centre. They subsequently visited the wave test site at Billia Croo and were pleasantly surprised at it’s unobtrusive nature and the beauty of the surrounding scenery and the innovative and challenging work done here in Orkney.
