Press release: EMEC invites Social Innovation Challenge proposals

Do you have an innovative climate change or carbon reduction solution which could help overcome the challenges faced by rural communities in Scotland?

The European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) is looking for local Orkney partners who are interested in applying for the Social Innovation Challenge, a funding programme to support innovative social enterprise solutions to challenges faced by individuals, communities and the environment.

Delivered by Firstport on behalf of the Scottish Government, the challenge seeks innovative social enterprises which create local engagement and social value as well as having the potential for longer term income generation. It will award up to £50,000 to support the development of a new social enterprise projects or ideas that have potential to support rural communities facing climate change challenges and reduce carbon emissions.

EMEC is now asking potential partners to present an idea that can be pitched in the application. EMEC has the capacity to support local enterprises, charities and innovators who are keen to enter the challenge and is keen to find a local partner with an innovative social enterprise which can be entered.

Please note that expressions of interest must be sent by Friday, 2 September 2022.
