EMEC Managing Director, Neil Kermode was at hand last weekend to guide interested parties around Black Craig as part of the Scottish renewables festival, which celebrates green energy in Scotland. It was a chance for EMEC to provide information on how we work with the Marine Renewable Energy devices, the benefits for Orkney and to open our doors to all who hanker after a deeper knowledge of the industry. Neil was also interviewed by a pair from The Netherlands who were ‘Cycling the North Sea’, in an ecological pilgrimage into sustainability.
Members of the board descended upon EMEC from far and wide for a successful EMEC Board meeting, where the EMEC Business Plan and annual budgets were ratified. In addition the members of the board were on hand to meet a delegation from the South West Regional Development Agency, WaveHub. Further meetings with WaveHub were conducted to identify synergies and collaborative issues, prior to a trip out to the Fall of Warness and EMEC’s Tidal Device test site. Interviews were held this week to find a replacement for Edwina Cook, our Client Liaison Manager. We hope to have the replacement in post as soon as possible, thereby ensuring continued high levels of service to the Developer community.
Our Operations team organized PSSR Training at the Stromness Maritime Dept., in order to guarantee that all staff are schooled in the art of sea survival training. Next part of the course will be when feet actually get wet! Other staff attended a VHF radio course.
