News this week
EMEC exhibited at the All Energy conference in Aberdeen last week as part of the Orkney Pavilion, and a busy few days was had by all. We were delighted to be able to announce the first clients for our wave scale test site – AlbaTERN, and also our strategic alliance with the Fundy Ocean Research Centre for Energy (FORCE) in Nova Scotia, Canada. You can read the related press releases in the news archive.
Before speaking at the wave and tidal sessions at the event, EMEC’s Managing Director Neil Kermode was also honoured with the 2011 Lennard – Senior Prize from the Society for Underwater Technology. The award, in recognition of outstanding individual achievement in the field of marine renewable energy was presented by Prof John Sharp, Chair of the SUT’s Marine Renewable Energy Committee. Neil’s conference presentation ‘Testing – an Update’ and all the other wave and tidal themed presentations, including ‘Pentland Firth and Orkney Waters: Two decades to change the world – a host community perspective’ are available on the All Energy website.
Finally, EMEC and marine energy in Orkney will be featured on the Landward programme tonight (Friday 27th May) at 7pm on BBC2 Scotland.
