News this week

This week we welcomed Eileen Linklater to the EMEC team as Client Relationship and Marketing Manager. Eileen, who is joining us from Orkney Islands Council, will have responsibility for working with developers and ensuring the goals of both parties are met. She said “I am delighted to be coming to the marine renewables industry at such an exciting time for Orkney, and very much looking forward to meeting developers and local industry contacts.” Eileen is the point of contact for prospective developers and visitors to EMEC, and will also deal with press, public relations and marketing enquiries.

Representatives from the Crown Estate braved blustery conditions this week to tour our wave and tidal test sites, as well as discuss the Crown Estate’s new Marine Resource System (MaRS). The photo shows Christine Sams (Technical Manager), Duncan Mackay (Offshore Renewables Project Manager), Jamie Moore (Marine GIS), and new recruit Eileen at Billia Croo.

Other recent visitors to EMEC include:

  • Euan Dobson and Adrian Gillespie from Scottish Enterprise who met with Neil Kermode, our Managing Director;
  • Geraldine Newton-Cross and Richard Knight from ETI (Energy Technologies Institute) met with our Research and Consents team

In the water, work continues to install Aquamarine’s Oyster wave energy converter and the associated onshore equipment.
