News this week

After a snowy festive season, it has been a busy start to 2011 here at EMEC, with developers getting ready for new deployments ahead. We have also further expanded our staff, with two new recruits starting in January. Stuart Flett is joining as Electrical and Test Engineer, and Mark Wemyss as Maintenance Technician. We are delighted to have Mark and Stuart on board to help with the year ahead.

Further afield, Commercial Director Richard Morris joined an event hosted by RenewableUK on 11th January in the Private Members Dining Room in the Palace of Westminster, to promote their “SeaPower” campaign for more capital investment in wave and tidal energy development. Also this week Neil Kermode, EMEC’s Managing Director was invited on board Northlink’s new freight vessel mv Helliar, which was officially named at a ceremony at Hatston Pier on Monday. At the ceremony, NorthLink also launched a daily freight service for Orkney.
