The European Commission Directorate-General for Energy and Transport, have an online competition on at the moment, (as reported on 15.6.07). The winner and 5 runners-up of the local competition from Stromness Primary 7, were invited up to EMEC’s offices on the morning of July 13th 2007. They received their ManagEnergy T-shirts and visited the wave test site at Billia Croo. Pictured above are, left to right, Jimmy Craigie, Patrick Henderson and winner, Ross Campbell, all 11 years old and due to go to Stromness Academy in August. Missing from the picture are Alexander Harrold, Debby Ryrie and Theo Prendergast. All their entries will go forward to the Europe-wide competition. Well done all!

Additional visitors this week include 2 members of the International Centre of Island Technology, based here in Orkney and 4 members of the Environmental Research Institute , based in Thurso.
