News this week

We’ve been very happy to receive a visit from Pam and Laurie Draper this week (see picture). They were the oceanographers involved in producing the DTI published wave map of the British Isles. Their recollections on the wave and tidal industry history need to be archived!

At the Fall of Warness, the Operations team have been busy with ROV work and diving operations.

OpenHydro are up at EMEC’s offices at the moment.

EMEC has held a multi-agency meeting to address safety and navigation isses at the EMEC Tidal Test Site. It was well attended by representatives from MCA, NLB, UKHO, Orkney Harbours, Orkney Ferries, the Chamber of Shipping, and EMEC. A very fruitful discussion took place – thanks to all who took part.

We were very pleased to host a visit from the Finance Minister, John Swinney MSP last week. He had a tour of Billia Croo and a presentation by EMEC’s Managing Director, Neil Kermode. See separate news item for further information.
