Blog: EMEC to feature on Radio 4′s Costing the Earth

Tom Heap and Jennifer Norris at the Black Craig observations point

Radio 4’s Costing the Earth team were in Orkney last week recording for an upcoming programme on marine energy. EMEC Research Director Jennifer Norris provided the show’s Presenter Tom Heap and Producer Alasdair Cross a tour of the wave test site at Billia Croo and the EMEC wildlife observations station at the Black Craig (pictured above), while Neil Kermode, EMEC Managing Director, accompanied them on a boat trip to Lyness with ScottishPower Renewables representatives to see the Pelamis P2 wave energy converters. The crew also met with Seatricity, viewing their manufacturing base in Stromness, Scotrenewables Tidal Power Ltd, and Orkney Islands Council.

‘Wave Goodbye?’ will be broadcast tomorrow (Tuesday 2nd October 2012) at 1530, and will be repeated on Wednesday 3rd October at 2100.

In the meantime, they have posted some photos of their trip on to the Radio 4 website.
