Blog: EMEC support local swimming club
EMEC would like to congratulate everyone who participated in the Stromness Amateur Swimming Club’s 53rd Annual Club Championships last week.
The event, sponsored by EMEC, saw fifty eight swimmers take part in what was an excellent weekend’s competition, with lots of personal bests for the participants, some exciting finishes, one new Stromness age group record and an overall win for the Sharks over the Dolphins.
A highlight on Sunday afternoon was the Hasbeens vs Wannabees relay, where ex-club swimmers and current masters swimmers took on the current crop of A-squad SASC swimmers in men’s and women’s relays. EMEC’s Finance and Administration Manager Donna Ritch competed in the woman’s Hasbeens team, with Radio Orkney’s Andrew Learmonth featuring in the mens team. The Wannabees were victorious in both relays, the Hasbeens narrowly missing out after some very impressive performances.
With past SASC members in the EMEC team, and a number of EMEC children currently involved in the club, EMEC also raises money for the club via www.easyfundraising.org.uk when we shop online. In the last year we’ve raised over £150 for the club.
