Ocean Energy Europe | OEE2020 at HOME
Ocean Energy Europe‘s annual event is moving online this year from 1 – 4 December 2020. This means it is easier than ever before to join the event from anywhere in the world! There are plenty opportunites get up to speed with the latest news from the marine energy sector, as well as connecting with peers within the industry.
This year’s conference programme looks at how innovative ocean energy technologies can drive the green energy transition towards a carbon-neutral future.
The impacts of the climate crisis and the coronavirus pandemic underline the importance of investing in robust, shock-resistant industries. The world’s economic recovery needs new, sustainable sectors to drive industrial activity and create jobs.
Attending OEE:
- Neil Kermode, Managing Director
- Matthew Finn, Commercial Director
- Dernis Mediavilla, Marine Energy Development Manager
- Lara Santos, Stakeholder Engagement Officer
- Nicolas Wallet, Programme Manager
Not to be missed:
Day 1 | Tuesday 1 December
Designing the energy system of the future – The value of flexibility | 12:00 – 13:00 CET
Neil Kermode, EMEC’s Managing Director will be joining this panel discussion on how Europe is striving to fully decarbonise the energy sector which is the most pressing step in achieving climate neutrality. In this context, the flexibility and predictability of ocean energy complements variable renewable energy sources and adds significant value to the energy system.
Neil will be discussing the flagship ReFLEX project, a £28.5 million project to create a Virtual Energy System (VES) in Orkney, Scotland, to digitally link distributed and intermittent renewable generation to flexible demand. He will also be touching on the progress being made within the green hydrogen space to decarbonise life line services.
Day 2 | Wednesday 2 December
Tidal Tech Showcase: Powering Homes | 10:30 – 11:30 CET
Tune into this session and hear from leading tidal stream technology developers, including EMEC clients, Orbital Marine Power and Magallanes Renovables, who will share their latest achievments and experiences.
Scotland is Now Networking Forum | 12:10 – 13:10 CET
Scotland continues to champion the wave and tidal energy sector, supporting the research, development, and demonstration that will maintain Scotland’s competitive advantage and potentially deliver significant domestic and export-led economic benefit. Matthew Finn, EMEC’s Commercial Director, will be providing an update on the advances being made within the marine energy space, particularly tidal, in Scotland in recent times and what is in the pipeline for 2021.
