EMEC staff recently visited Datawell in Holland to discuss wave measurement data quality.
Datawell are one of EMEC’s key suppliers and their Waverider buoy measurements are central to our UKAS accredited Wave Performance Assessment services. The accreditation is maintained with regular yearly visits from UKAS and a three yearly re-accreditation when the Lead Assessor from UKAS is accompanied by the leading industry technical experts that UKAS recruit for every ISO 17025 accreditation that they hold for every calibration and testing organisation.
EMEC maintains close cooperation with our suppliers such as Datawell to keep to the benchmark of continuous improvement that UKAS demand of all its accreditation clients. This means the benefits of accreditation are able to flow down the supplier chain in our marine renewables sector.
Pictured above with Datawell staff are EMEC’s Hydrodynamicist John Lawrence and Quality Manager Paul Hayes who have been reviewing measurement uncertainties in the calibration of Waverider buoys. This has enabled both Datawell and EMEC to further improve confidence in wave measurements.
