Conference highlights
The conference programme is packed with interesting talks from some of the leading experts in the field of wave and tidal energy, including many of our clients and technology developers from around the world. We’ve highlighted some key sessions below, with the Full Conference Programme available online.
- Turbulence at tidal energy sites workshop: Matthew Finn is attending The Crown Estate’s workshop with group sessions on turbulence for energy resource assessment, engineering design, and array design, including field data requirements. The workshop will consider the formation of industry guidance on turbulence and will determine future requirements for further research. For further details see: Workshop Agenda
- B2:Joined Up Thinking: Creating Grid Connected Projects: Neil Kermode will be chairing this session looking at the challenges facing projects seeking a connection at the fringes of the grid network. Panellists include Max Carcas (Caelulum Ltd) and Neil Davidson (Aquamarine Power).
- A3: Tidal Technology Showcase: Progress Report: Speaking alongside some of the other leading tidal energy developers, James Murray from Scotrenewables Tidal Power will provide an update on the development of the SR2000 2MW turbine, due to be tested at EMEC later in 2015.
- B3: Wave Energy: Applied Sector Research: Dr Joseph van’t Hoff, Senior Numerical Modelling Engineer at Aquamarine Power will explore how data analysis is being used to inform the future design of the Oyster technology and the company’s commercialisation plans.
- A5: The First Arrays: Status Update: John Griffiths is chairing this session, with speakers from Meygen (Dan Pearson), Carnegie Wave Energy (Tim Sawyer), OpenHydro (Sue Barr) and Alstom Power (Robert Stevenson) providing insight into some of the first array projects being developed around the world.
- B7: Globalising Wave & Tidal Energy: Key Markets and Development Prospects: Oliver Wragg is providing an update on the progress of developing a global network of test centres to encourage collaboration.
