News this week

Despite blue skies at the beginning of the week, as you can see from the photograph the weather has changed for the worse at this end of the week. A severe storm passed north of Orkney overnight and left Billia Croo wave site boiling with waves of 9.5 metres.

The weather was enjoyed by our Spanish visitors from the Basque region yesterday who learnt how to hold onto their hats and the car doors!

Cristina Huertas-Olivares had an enjoyable and constructive time with us here at EMEC as did Hakim Mouslim from Ecole Centrale de Nantes in Brittany. Eloi our hydrodynamicist enjoyed speaking his native French immensely!

At the beginning of the week, Ben Wilson from the Scottish Association for Marine Science (SAMS) and his colleague were successful in gathering acoustic monitoring data in the Fall of Warness.
