News this week

Visitors to EMEC this week include European and US journalists on a US/European renewable energy tour with Scottish Development International (SDI). They received a presentation from Edwina Cook and continued their visit to Orkney with a charter boat out to the Fall of Warness. Also from the SDI this week we welcomed Mr Kouhei Oba, Researcher; and Mr Toshinori Katsuki, Senior Researcher from the Business and Management Research Department of the Nomura Research Institute of Japan. They also received a presentation and enjoyed a flight over the Fall of Warness.

OpenHydro were out on site this week continuing with their testing programme.

Photograph shows another snowy Orkney scene at the substation, Caldale, Eday. Thanks to Kate Townsend for forwarding the photograph.

Finally, we are saying farewell to our Operations Manager, Dave Cousins today after a number of years at EMEC. Needless to say, we are sorry to see him go but look forward to meeting him again in his new role in Orkney. Good luck Dave and very best wishes.
