News this week

Visitors to EMEC this week began in earnest. On Monday January 12, we were pleased to welcome Rodolfo Mendez, Manager of RyQ an engineering consulting company in Chile. Accompanied by his colleague Elizabeth they visited Billia Croo and the office in Stromness. On Thursday 15 January, three members of ESB International, Dublin – James Tedd, Mark Fielding and Patrick O’Rourke – visited EMEC. ESBI are working in partnership with the Irish Marine Institute to develop a wave test site off the west coast of Ireland. Photograph shows the three Irish visitors inside the substation at Billia Croo.

On Wednesday 14 January EMEC conducted an internal strategy and business planning meeting. This took place at the Merkister Hotel in Harray and was very successful.

Jennifer Norris, Research and Consents Manager accompanied the current Head of School for the Institute of Petroleum Engineering at Heriot-Watt University, Professor Patrick Corbett, the new Head of School, Professor Simon Stewart, and Karen Mackintosh, the Financial Controller to Billia Croo this morning. This was Professor Stewart’s first visit to EMEC and we were very pleased to welcome him.
