News this week

Jennifer Norris attended the EMEC Renewable Advisory Group meeting in Edinburgh on October 28th. Jenny struggled through the snow which arrived in the county on that morning to reach Edinburgh for a well attended and enthusiastically received meeting.

EMEC staff have been busy for two days this week working with our Quality Manager, Paul Hayes on planned Integrated Management System work.

OpenHydro and TGL have been at work on the tidal site this week, taking advantage of the gap in the weather (+13 metre waves at Billia Croo this past week), which decreased from gales and snow to sun and calm seas.

The Northern Lighthouse Board have published their new on-line publication ‘Littoral News’ this week. Visit the NLB website to download.

Visitors to EMEC this week included Laruent Chaumussy from Sipa Press in Paris. They are commissioned by the EEC to do a series of photo stories on climate change and what is done on this issue in Europe by the European Commission.

On the same days, James Yen and Tai-Wei Wang from the Industry Technology and Research Institute visited the wave and tidal test site. See the photo which belies the stormy weather of the day before.
