Blog: EMEC to feature on BBC Breakfast News, Thurs 5th Sept

Jenny Hill, reporter for BBC Breakfast, was in the county earlier this week reporting on the marine renewables industry which is evolving in Orkney. As well as interviewing Neil Kermode, EMEC’s managing director, she visited the Billia Croo test site to speak to Bryan Rendall of Bryan J Rendall Electrical Ltd who has seen his business expand significantly as the marine renewables industry has developed on the islands. Jenny also met with tidal energy developers Scotrenewables Tidal Power Ltd, getting up close to the SR250 device at Hatston Pier.

Also featured will be Gareth Crichton, local hotelier, highlighting the positive impact marine renewables is having on local accommodation providers, and a couple of marine renewables students from Heriot Watt’s Orkney Campus who are now working in the county.

The report will be broadcast tomorrow morning at around 0620, 0720 and 0820.
