Blog: EMEC sponsoring Snipe Sailing Championships

The UK Snipe Nationals are taking place in Orkney this weekend with 12 of the UK’s top Snipe sailing teams having travelled from as far afield as the south of England to compete. This is the first time that the championships have taken place in Scotland.

As principal sponsor of the event, EMEC has provided a set of three new orange race buoys which are visible from a long distance, to help both sailors and spectators. Celebrating our tenth anniversary, we have been sponsoring a number of events throughout Orkney in recognition of the support shown by the local community over the past decade. We’re delighted to be supporting Orkney in hosting an event of this calibre, and glad that the buoys will represent a lasting legacy as they are used throughout the county in the future.

The National Championships are taking place outside Stromness Harbour today, and over the weekend, so spectators take your binoculars up Brinkies Brae, or take a walk around the coastline past Garson and Copland’s Dock.
