Blog: EMEC kicks off 10th anniversary celebrations
This year marks EMEC’s 10th year in operation, and to recognise and celebrate the many achievements that have been made at our sites, and throughout the industry, we have various events and activities planned to take place during 2013.
To kick this off, today we are launching our brand new 10th anniversary logos which you will see being used throughout the year.
Great foresight was demonstrated by the public sector when investing in the development of EMEC, and this is now really paying off. EMEC is still the world’s only accredited, full-scale open-sea test facility for wave and tidal energy converters, and has supported the deployment of more grid connected devices than at any other single site in the world. Throughout the last decade, developers have taken devices from across the globe to test at our sites in Orkney, and have overcome some tremendous challenges rarely faced by other industries. It is a testament to those working in the industry to see how far it has progressed in such a relatively short space of time, and while there is a long way to go, we are very excited to see what the next 10 years will hold.
Details of further events and activities will be released throughout the year. Watch this space, or follow us on Facebook or Twitter for further details.
