Vacancy: Senior Metocean Engineer

As the world’s leading ocean energy test facility, we have hosted more wave and tidal energy converters than at any other site. We are also partnering in a growing number of innovative energy systems, hydrogen, floating wind and clean transport demonstration projects to decarbonise power, heat and transport.

 

Senior Metocean Engineer

Salary negotiable plus contributory pension

We are looking for a Senior Metocean Engineer to be EMEC’s metocean and oceanographic subject matter expert. You will lead and managing the collection, analysis, quality control and dissemination of all metocean and oceanographic measurement programmes.

You will be educated to degree level in a subject related to the marine environment such as oceanography (or have equivalent industrial experience). You will have knowledge of GIS, MATLAB and similar products and be familiar with data manipulation techniques.

You will manage the development of EMEC’s metocean and oceanographic data management, infrastructure and dissemination strategy and be instrumental in its delivery in relation to EMEC test sites. The Senior Metocean Engineer will also provide data, surveys and reports to developers and participate in EMEC’s accreditation activities.

Preferably based in Orkney, this is a full-time, permanent post, however we welcome both full and part-time applications.
