EMEC is the world’s leading demonstration facility for testing wave and tidal energy technologies in the sea.
Based in Orkney, the centre is also leading innovation projects exploring floating wind, the integration of renewables, green hydrogen and e-fuels, and islands decarbonisation.
Operations & Technology Director
Salary: £78,130 – £84,923 | Type: Permanent post

As Operations and Technology Director, you will lead EMEC’s operational, technical and project delivery activities, ensuring safe, efficient and high-quality outcomes. You will champion a culture of safety, professionalism and innovation in the company, ensuring maintenance and availability of company assets and exceptional standards of service.
You will work closely with the executive team, report to and deputise for the Managing Director, and communicate effectively with EMEC’s Board.
Our ideal candidate is educated to degree level in a technical or engineering discipline, with over 10-15 years of post-education experience, including operational leadership and risk management in a marine environment. Experience in a commercially run service industry and a proven ability to manage multidisciplinary technical teams across multiple locations is essential.
