Vacancy: Non-Executive Directors

EMEC is pioneering the development of a globally successful marine energy industry as part of a clean energy system. Established in 2003, the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) Ltd is the world’s leading centre for testing and demonstrating wave and tidal renewable energy technologies in the sea, and is driving the development of the sector throughout the UK and globally.

The centre is also pioneering the development of the green hydrogen economy and opened a demonstration hydrogen production facility in 2016, producing carbon-neutral hydrogen using renewable energy. With unprecedented experience of providing demonstration, technical and commercial support in these sectors, EMEC is diversifying its portfolio with floating offshore wind and clean energy systems projects. EMEC is a not for profit organisation which has received considerable government support in its creation and development. It operates as a commercial organisation with a clear focus on self-sustainability while delivering economic benefit both regionally and nationally.

Non-Executive Directors

£16,433 per annum

We are looking to appoint two non-executive directors to the EMEC Board. These are critical positions which will offer strategic guidance and governance to the company and strong leadership during EMEC’s next phase of development and growth.

We are seeking applications from individuals with a proven track record in Human Resource Management with appropriate HR qualifications and chartered status, and those from a relevant technical discipline.

You will have a good existing network in the public sector and have operated at senior level in a complex commercial setting, and be qualified to degree level or equivalent. An understanding of research, development and innovation funding or public sector finance would be advantageous, but a strong commercial focus is essential.

The appointment will be for a period of three years from July 2022 with an anticipated time commitment of around 30 days per annum, which will vary on a month by month basis to suit business needs.
