The Fall of Warness continues to be busy with two developers on site.
Jennifer Norris, Research Manager and Matthew Finn, Research Assistant held a successful first EMEC Monitoring Advisory Group meeting in Aberdeen on June 9th, attended by regulators, key advisors, Scottish Government, and BERR (Research Advisory Group). Jennifer Norris will be at the Scottish Government's Marine Energy Policy Group on Monday, followed by the MAREE2008 in London on Tuesday where she will be giving a presentation. She will also be presenting at the Offshore Renewable Energy and Environment Forum (OREEF) on Wednesday.
The Operations Team have begun work on the ADCP deployment training course, as featured in last week's news.
Edwina Cook, Business Development/Client Relationship Officer was in Eday on Monday to take out items for the Eday Heritage Centre official opening in July. EMEC have a display corner, which includes a stand presented by OpenHydro.
Neil Kermode, Managing Director was at the Seaworks Conference and Exhibition in Southampton this week. He gave a joint presentation with David Sawkins of Orkney Ferries on the experience gained over the last 2/3 years concerning the integration of shipping and local users. Also to show how the UK is leading the marine renewables industry through the work of EMEC in Orkney and discussing the challenges and the opportunities needing to be conquered to make the sector a success.
A local company, Sula Diving, was featured in 'The Orcadian' and 'Orkney Today' this week, in an article describing the work they have been doing at Billia Croo for the wave developer, Aquamarine Power Ltd.
