Visitors to EMEC found travel arrangements somewhat difficult this week - as did you all in the South! However, weather often disrupts events here in Orkney and we are perhaps a little more sanguine about things not happening when we want them to! Prevented from visiting this week were Alex Reid and Alison Hunt from the Scottish Government's Enterprise, Energy and Tourism Directorate, Saltire Prize Team. Snowy landscapes and skies would have made a beautiful backdrop for the tidal site visit. We look forward to their re-scheduled visit. Able to get through the icy blasts (and used to far worse!) were Vladamir Malygin, Consul General of the Russian Federation, Edinburgh and Grigary Antonenkov, Vice Consul and Robert Miller, Scottish Representative of Russian Hour T.V. They were very interested to learn of the work undertaken here at EMEC and hear of the developing technologies which may have a place in the Russian market.
