The European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) is seeking final applications to receive a discount of up to 50% for companies to verify their innovative environmental technologies.

The subsidy is available via the EU Environmental Technology Verification (ETV) pilot programme – a tool to help technology developers reach the market in the European Union and internationally.

By independently verifying the specific performance claims of new technology, ETV can help companies provide confidence to technology purchasers and investors, increasing their credibility and visibility within the market.

As an ISO 17020 UKAS accredited ETV Verification Body, EMEC can offer up to 50% discount (up to €10k) on the cost of verification, excluding the costs of any testing that may be required.

The ETV scheme is open to developers of energy, water treatment, or materials and waste technologies who want to prove that their technology is innovative and has environmental added-value. To be eligible, the technology must be near to or ready for market.

The subsidy is available to all eligible applications submitted before 30 September 2016.

A short application via a ‘quick-scan’ form can also highlight where additional testing or data gathering could strengthen the marketability of the technology.

Urging small businesses to get in touch, Dave Wakefield, EMEC’s ETV Manager, said:

“Innovation is the driving force of the European economy but new technologies often struggle to reach the market because they haven’t been proven. An ETV provides verified evidence that the company’s innovation claims are credible, which can encourage investment and help get technologies to market quicker.

“However the current funding draws to a close at the end of 2016 so this offer is only available for a limited time – businesses need to get in touch now if they want to take advantage of this”.

If you’d like to learn more about how EMEC-ETV can help your business attract investment and speed up entry to desired markets, please get in touch: Phone +44(0)1856 852060 or email etv@emec.org.uk.
