Press release: EMEC to host MaRINET2 course on marine energy environmental data collection
Following the success of the variety of training courses delivered by the MaRINET2 project consortium to date, the next course will be held in Stromness Orkney on 23 – 24th June 2020.
Hosted and led by the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC), the short course entitled “Environmental data collection in marine renewable energy sites” will be delivered collaboratively by EMEC, WavEC Offshore Renewables and the Institute of Marine Engineering of the Italian National Research Council (CNR-INM).
The training course will cover the importance of gathering environmental data and delve into the varying methods of data collection at marine energy test sites. The considerations required towards health and safety, and planning and permitting will also be covered.
The course is aimed at early-stage researchers and postgraduate students, as well as industry and private sector participants.

MaRINET2 is a €10.5m project funded by the European Commission’s Horizon 2020 program, and coordinated by the MaREI (Marine and Renewable Energy Ireland) Centre in University College Cork. The project has been set up to accelerate the development of offshore renewable energy technologies by providing free-of-charge access to a network of 57 research facilities across Europe.
