BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Bill Edgar - Chairman

An engineering graduate of Birmingham and Strathclyde Universities, Bill was formerly a Group Director of John Wood Group plc and Chief Executive of the National Engineering Laboratory. He is currently Chairman of Subsea UK Ltd and a non-executive Director of Online Electronics Ltd. He is a past President of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and is a Fellow of both the Royal Academy of Engineering and the Royal Society of Edinburgh. He became a CBE is 2003.
Alistair Gray - Finance Director

A finance graduate and Chartered Accountant, Alistair has extensive business experience. From 1997 Alistair was a Board Member of Highlands and Islands Enterprise and for six years was involved in a wide variety of economic and community projects across the network. In August 2005 he was appointed to the Board of EMEC with specific responsibility for finance.
Hugh MacNab - HIE Representative

Hugh spent 20 years as production director in the textile manufacturing industry and 15 years with HIE. As head of finance for industry he was responsible for supervising the development of HIE investments in many private and public sector projects throughout the Highlands and Islands. He was appointed as a non-executive director of EMEC in January 2004.
Ian Bryden - Research Director

Ian has been a non-executive director of EMEC since 2005 and has specific responsibility for research. He holds the Chair of Renewable Energy at the University of Edinburgh and is also Research Director for the multi-institutional Supergen Marine Research Consortium, a member of the Scottish Government Forum for Renewable Energy Development in Scotland (FREDS) and, in 2001, he acted as specialist advisor to the House of Commons Science and Technology Committee enquiry into wave and tidal current energy.
John Aldersey-Williams - Carbon Trust Representative

John was appointed to the EMEC Board in 2003. As the Carbon Trust's representative, he is primarily responsible for liaison between EMEC and the Trust. He has been active in renewables since 2001, and assists EMEC with commercial and strategic issues and public policy consultations.
John Griffiths - Technical/Health&Safety Director

John is a chemical engineer, with 41 years experience as a General Manager, Consultant, Project Manager & Engineering Manager as well as in a range of Operational and Technical roles. John is a non-Executive Director of EMEC and executes contract roles relating to development of Management Systems, leadership of the Standards Project and some site development activity.

MEMBERS OF STAFF
Neil Kermode - Managing Director

Neil was appointed as Managing Director in November 2005. He is directly accountable to the Board for all operations and is responsible for meeting the Board's objectives for EMEC's operational, environmental, financial and commercial performance.
Edwina Cook - Business Development/Client Relationship Officer

Edwina joined EMEC in March 2007 and has responsibility for monitoring the performance of contracts with developers to ensure that the goals of all parties are met. She also has responsibility for marketing and PR which includes organising and looking after visitors to EMEC.
Donna Ritch - Administrator

Donna joined EMEC in October 2006 and has responsibility for administration and finance which includes all aspects of office management, providing support to the Managing Director and Board, and maintaining the web site. Donna also carries out the role of local Quality Manager ensuring that the Integrated Management System operates effectively.
Andrew Want - Standards Co-ordinator

Andrew works on a part-time, flexible basis and is presently undertaking the role of standards co-ordinator. This involves providing administrative support to the standards project including arranging external workshops. If you contact Andrew he can put you in touch with the leaders of the industry groups who are progressing each draft.
OPERATIONS TEAM
Dave Cousins - Operations Manager
Dave has been with EMEC since May 2004. He is responsible for marine operations covering all device testing and associated activities. He also manages the technical interface with all partners to ensure the shared commitments and objectives are fully realised.
Chris White - Test Engineer
Chris joined EMEC in June 2006 and works with developers to manage electrical connections issues and to solve operational problems of a technical and electrical nature. He provides first line technical support at substation sites.
Roy Temple - Maintenance Technician

Roy joined EMEC in March 2007 and has responsibility for ensuring the availability and proper functioning of all facilities and equipment associated with testing. He also maintains IMS records for all asset-related and maintenance activity and carries out EMEC's marine work.
RESEARCH AND CONSENTS TEAM
Jennifer Norris - Research Manager
Jennifer joined EMEC in November 2003. Her role comprises the management and day-to-day running of three areas: all issues relating to consents and licensing of developers' devices at EMEC (including the development of 'best practice' monitoring methods); the development of research plans and research proposals with appropriate partners; the handling of data that EMEC acquires for use in-house and by developers.
Matthew Finn - Research Assistant

Matthew joined EMEC in February 2006. He works with developers taking them through the consenting process at EMEC. He also works on the identification and implementation of various research projects and maintains the flow of data out to developers and academics. Further responsibilities include: quality assurance, marketing author and wider EMEC development.
John Lawrence - Hydrodynamicist

John joined EMEC in August 2008. He provides a service for the calculation and reporting of the marine resource across the range of EMEC wave and tidal testing facilities. John also responds to developer and academic enquiries concerning information on sea resource measurements.
