MEMBERS OF STAFF
Neil Kermode - Managing Director

Neil was appointed as Managing Director in November 2005. He is directly accountable to the Board for all operations and is responsible for meeting the Board's objectives for EMEC's operational, environmental, financial and commercial performance.
Richard Morris - Commercial Director

Richard was appointed to the role of Commercial Director in April 2009, supporting the Managing Director to enable the vision for EMEC growth. He provides a business development regime for EMEC that establishes a firm commercial approach; liaises with developers, funders, and partners; and participates in new initiatives driving growth and revenue.
Eileen Linklater - Client Relationship and Marketing Manager

Eileen joined EMEC in August 2009 and has responsibility for monitoring and managing contracts with developers and ensuring the goals of both parties are met. Eileen is the point of contact for prospective developers and visitors to EMEC and deals with public relations and marketing enquiries.
Donna Ritch - Administrator

Donna joined EMEC in October 2006 and has responsibility for administration and finance which includes all aspects of office management, providing support to the Managing Director and Board, and maintaining the web site. Donna also carries out the role of local Quality Manager ensuring that the Integrated Management System operates effectively.
Frances Groundwater - Administration Assistant

Frances joined EMEC in May 2009 and supports the Administrator and other members of staff by providing key administrative services to the organisation. This includes providing 'front of house' services for visitors and booking travel and accommodation for members of staff.
OPERATIONS TEAM
Stuart Baird - Operations Director

Stuart joined EMEC in April 2009 and has responsibility for ensuring that EMEC operations are planned and executed in a safe and professional manner to meet agreed Client objectives. He also deputises for the Managing Director in his absence and provides support in all operational aspects of EMEC work.
Graham Bleakley - Senior Operations Engineer

Graham joined EMEC in May 2009 and ensures all day to day operations are planned & executed safely and in accordance with EMEC policy. He also deputises for the Operations Director in his absence, leads the Duty Manager team, monitors contracted technical services, plans asset maintenance & replacement and supports accreditation activities.
Chris White - Senior Test Engineer
Chris joined EMEC in June 2006 and works with developers to manage electrical connections issues and to solve operational problems of a technical and electrical nature. He provides first line technical support at substation sites.
Roy Temple - Maintenance Technician

Roy joined EMEC in March 2007 and has responsibility for ensuring the availability and proper functioning of all facilities and equipment associated with testing. He also maintains IMS records for all asset-related and maintenance activity and carries out EMEC's marine work.
Chris Casely - Engineering Technician

Chris was appointed as Engineering Technician in March 2009 and assists in maintaining availability and proper functioning of all HV electrical connections and SCADA system associated with the test sites. He also works with Developers to solve operational problems of a technical or data-related nature and provides first line technical support at substation sites (wave & tidal) including "engineer level" maintenance of SCADA system.
RESEARCH AND CONSENTS TEAM
Jennifer Norris - Research Director
Jennifer joined EMEC in November 2003 and was Research and Consents Manager until April 2010. In May she took on the new role of Research Director and is now responsible for all Research and Consents related issues, including developing and delivering EMEC’s growing involvement in Research, which has an emphasis on industry needs. She also continues to oversee EMEC’s consents activities which help to ensure a smooth path to deployment.
Matthew Finn - Research & Project Coordinator

Matthew joined EMEC in February 2006. His primary role covers the coordination of a diverse range of research projects underway at EMEC. Beyond this Matthew is actively involved in liaising with the marine renewables industrial and academic communities to develop new areas of research and development for EMEC.
John Lawrence - Hydrodynamicist

John joined EMEC in August 2008. He provides a service for the calculation and reporting of the marine resource across the range of EMEC wave and tidal testing facilities. John also responds to developer and academic enquiries concerning information on sea resource measurements.
Christina Bristow – Research & Consents Assistant

Christina joined EMEC in May 2010. She works with developers taking them through the consenting process at EMEC, and assists with the liaison between developers, regulators and regulatory consultees. She also assists with the ongoing research and monitoring projects, and brings a strong numerical background to the team.
Jennifer Falconer – Data Technician

Jennifer joined EMEC in June 2010. She assists the Hydrodynamicist with quality control and reporting of the marine resource across the range of EMEC wave and tidal testing facilities. She responds to developer and academic enquiries concerning information on sea resource measurements and maintains the flow of data to appropriate parties.
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Bill Edgar - Chairman

An engineering graduate of Birmingham and Strathclyde Universities, Bill was formerly a Group Director of John Wood Group plc and Chief Executive of the National Engineering Laboratory. He is currently Chairman of Subsea UK Ltd and a non-executive Director of Online Electronics Ltd. He is a past President of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and is a Fellow of both the Royal Academy of Engineering and the Royal Society of Edinburgh. He became a CBE in 2003.
Alistair Gray - Finance Director

A finance graduate and Chartered Accountant, Alistair has extensive business experience. From 1997 Alistair was a Board Member of Highlands and Islands Enterprise and for six years was involved in a wide variety of economic and community projects across the network. In August 2005 he was appointed to the Board of EMEC with specific responsibility for finance.
Hugh MacNab - HIE Representative

Hugh spent 20 years as production director in the textile manufacturing industry and 15 years with HIE. As head of finance for industry he was responsible for supervising the development of HIE investments in many private and public sector projects throughout the Highlands and Islands. He was appointed as a non-executive director of EMEC in January 2004.
Ian Bryden - Research Director

Ian has been a non-executive director of EMEC since 2005 and has specific responsibility for research. He holds the Chair of Renewable Energy at the University of Edinburgh and is also Research Director for the multi-institutional Supergen Marine Research Consortium, a member of the Scottish Government Forum for Renewable Energy Development in Scotland (FREDS) and, in 2001, he acted as specialist advisor to the House of Commons Science and Technology Committee enquiry into wave and tidal current energy.
John Griffiths - Technical/Health&Safety Director

John is a chemical engineer, with 41 years experience as a General Manager, Consultant, Project Manager & Engineering Manager as well as in a range of Operational and Technical roles. John is a non-Executive Director of EMEC and executes contract roles relating to development of Management Systems, leadership of the Standards Project and some site development activity.
