EMEC Funding

EMEC has been funded by a grouping of public sector organisations convened by Highlands and Islands Enterprise on behalf of the Scottish Executive. This follows a recommendation by the House of Commons Science and Technology Committee in 2001. The group consists of:

The total funding for both capital project costs and certain developmental costs that form part of EMEC’s revenue budget is in the region of £14.5 million. The Board of EMEC is extremely grateful that Government has recognised the importance and potential of the marine renewable industry in this way.

Note:

Carbon Trust have agreed with EMEC a programme of activity against a series of milestones representing achievement of mutually set goals for developmental activity to facilitate progress of EMEC’s objectives on behalf of the emerging wave and tidal stream power generation industry.

HIPP has allocated funding from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) Structural Fund strand of the Highlands & Islands Special Transitional Programme (HISTP), under the priority entitled "Creating the Conditions for Regional Competitiveness".
