EMEC tidal site activity ramping up
If you’ve been keeping an eye on Orkney Islands Council’s Notice to Mariners, you’ll see that activity on our grid-connected tidal test site is about to ramp up. Here’s a snapshot of activity planned to take place at the Fall of Warness over the next few weeks.
Scotrenewables
Scotrenewables Tidal Power’s SR2000 will be connected to its moorings and is expected to remain on site for a short-term deployment. Local marine services provider Green Marine will tow the 550-tonne 2MW tidal turbine to the Fall of Warness test site using the MV ‘Green Isle’ supported by RIB ‘Agricola’.
Nautricity
Nautricity is gearing up to deploy their contra-rotating CoRMaT tidal turbine. The 500kW turbine will be transported from Montrose using Norwegian vessel Olympic Challenger for device installation and commissioning at the Fall of Warness test site.
Tocardo
Leask Marine will kick off the installation of Tocardo’s T2 tidal turbine. Leask Marine’s C-Odyssey and Uskmoor vessels will be used for the marine works, which include survey and cable operations, device mooring installation and the installation and commissioning of Tocardo’s device.
