Blog: New Systems Developer

Steven Pyke, Systems Developer

Steven Pyke, Systems Developer

As part of a knowledge transfer partnership (KTP) between the University of Strathclyde and EMEC, we would like to welcome our new Systems Developer, Steven Pyke. The position (supported by Innovate UK) will see Steven support the development of EMEC’s ocean energy assessment processes which will form part of an integrated evaluation and development pathway for wave and tidal energy companies.

After originally studying Mechanical Engineering 10 years ago, Steven decided to move back home to Orkney to work for his family business before doing his master’s degree in Marine Renewable Energy at ICIT last year.

We asked him why he wanted to work for EMEC, he responded:

“EMEC is leading in their class in the industry, making it a great place to work. The association of being employed by Strathclyde University and being based at EMEC provides a strong resource for knowledge and learning that will hopefully support in advancing my career.”

Although he might not have much luck at this time of year, outside of work Steven likes to go a walk if it’s a bonnie night.
