Exhibition

EMEC are gearing up for another exciting exhibition at All-Energy 2019. You will find us on stand ORK12 within the Orkney and Highlands and Islands Enterprise pavilion.

This year we are showcasing the vast activity taking place at EMEC to decarbonise our energy system, particularly highlighting the key technology areas we’re now working in; wave energy, tidal energy, floating offshore wind, hydrogen and energy systems.

Day 1 | 15th May 2019

1400 – 1530 | Energy Systems 2: Energy transition in practice

  • EMEC’s Managing Director, Neil Kermode will be talking about the newly launched ReFLEX project which will demonstrate the energy system of the future in Orkney.

1400 – 1530 | Marine Renewable Energy 2 – Managed Global Collaboration

  • Oliver Wragg, Commercial Director, EMEC will be speaking on the ‘important role of test centres in global collaboration.’

1500 – 1515 | Community & Local Energy – Show Floor Seminar Theatre

  • EMEC’s Project Manager, Richard Ainsworth will be giving a presentation case study on the HyDIME project and how it is integrating hydrogen into the marine environment

  • Chris Ward, Project Manager at EMEC for the Interreg ITEG project, will be presenting on ‘Integrating Tidal Energy into the European Grid.’

1400 – 1530 |Offshore Wind 5: Floating offshore wind 2 – The Next Steps Forward

  • Oliver Wragg, EMEC’s Commercial Director, will be speaking about a new multi-million euro project which will see a full-scale floating wind turbine deployed for testing off the west coast of Ireland.

Blue energy: Powering Europe’s coastal communities workshop | Thursday 16 May | 1415 – 1545

Ocean Energy Europe, in coordination with EMEC and the French Région Occitanie, will host a session on ‘Blue energy: Powering Europe’s coastal communities’. Participants will learn about the latest offshore renewable energy developments along Europe’s Atlantic and Mediterranean coasts, with a particular focus on the regional economic and environmental impacts. The session will encourage an exchange of views on the relationship between maritime communities and wave, tidal and floating wind projects.

World Hydrogen Technologies Convention 2019

WHTC 2019 -World Hydrogen Technologies Convention-

James Ferguson, Energy Systems Development Officer at EMEC will be attending the World Hydrogen Technologies Convention (WHTC) in Tokyo, Japan on the 2 – 7 June 2019.

WHTC is one of the most prestigious conference focusing on hydrogen energy technologies. While the world is trying to advance towards Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), hydrogen energy society is being realized to be one of its powerful ways. This international conference will bring scientists, researchers, students, industrialists, bureaucrats to be gathered at one place and exchange their ideas towards sustainability.

Wave Energy Club @ The Golf Tavern

What is the Wave Energy Club? The Wave Energy Club (WEC) is an organisation that brings together those interested in ocean wave energy in an informal, accessible, and social setting. The purpose of the club is to share ideas and build networks in the field of wave energy. They believe that creating a social club is the best way to develop relationships and trust needed for sharing ideas.

The Policy Conference of EUSEW 2019 will take place from 18 to 20 June 2019.

The Policy Conference is the biggest European conference dedicated to renewables and efficient energy use in Europe. Sessions organised by the European Commission and energy stakeholders focus on sustainable energy issues, debate new policy developments, best practices and sustainable energy ideas. Next to the conference, the Networking Village brings the EUSEW Community together to forge alliances whilst the EUSEW Awards celebrate outstanding projects and ideas.
