Conducting fieldwork in tidal stream sites workshop

Screen Shot 2018-10-02 at 16.46.57

The MONITOR project in partnership with the SEACAMS project have orgnaised a workshop on Conducting fieldwork in tidal stream sites.  Both MONITOR and EMEC will deliver keynote presentations as part of the workshop.

Several regions around the UK coast have been identified as having a significant tidal stream resource for commercial exploitation. Data collection in these highly energetic areas are inherently difficult to work in, with high tidal flows – sometimes combined with high wave exposure – demanding the necessity for specialist vessels, equipment and detailed local knowledge being basic requirements. This workshop is centred on the challenges and best practices of working at high energy sites, and is aimed at a broad range of stakeholders, including technicians, marine renewable energy technology developers, scientific equipment companies, scientists and academics alike.

If you would like to book a place to attend the workshop or would like to find out more, please go to https://www.masts.ac.uk/annual-science-meeting/2018-workshops/ or download the agenda from fieldwork-masts_workshop_2ndnov2018.

3rd International Workshop on Wave & Tidal Energy @ Universidad Austral
Nov 20 – Nov 23 all-day

Wave & Tidal 2018 3rd International Workshop

Chile is a unique natural laboratory to study the insertion and development of marine renewable energy. The extensive coastline of more than 6000 km and the presence of extreme events like earthquakes, tsunamis and storm surges bring large opportunities and challenges.
The Workshop provides a wide and interdisciplinary perspective on the current development of marine energy.

Attendants will have the opportunity to share results and experiences, and discuss strategies to accelerate the development of marine renewable energy in a local and global context.

The workshop themes include: energy resources and technology; interaction with the marine ecosystem; and social and economical aspects.

ATTENDING WAVE & TIDAL 2018:

  • Rob Flynn, EMEC’s International Development Manager

If you would like to set up a meeting, please contact: info@emec.org.uk | +44 (0) 1856 852060.

International Tidal Energy Summit 2018 @ Novotel London West
Nov 27 all-day

John Griffiths ITES 2018

The International Tidal Energy Summit is taking place on 27th November 2018, at the Novotel London West, Hammersmith.

EMEC’s John Griffiths is moderating a round table session on the potential for standardising aspects of supply chain activities with the intent of trying to reduce costs for the tidal energy sector.

If you would like to organise a meeting, please email info@emec.org.uk or call +44(0)1856 852060.

ABOUT ITES 2018:

With the removal of the CfD ringfence around revenue assigned for tidal energy prospects, the tidal industry is undeniably entering a period of disruption. However, with disruption comes opportunity and profitable commercial-scale projects are still a reality. ITES 2018 brings together industry stakeholders for the collective drive for cost-effectiveness and remain a crucial player in an industry with much potential.

The International Tidal Energy Summit 2018 will bring together both visionaries and leaders who will deliver interactive discussions, roundtables, and workshops aimed at informing business strategies of all stakeholder companies.
